heggs > My first venture into the macro photography world with a 150mm Sigma lens. All I have to say is wow, what a cool world it is.

heggs > After hiking up a hill near Kincaid Park, a candid shot of my friend Jonelle soaking up some sun during the first warm day of the 2008 the Alaska summer.

heggs > The little Moose calf is definitely cute, but I'm making sure I don't get too close because I can't see the big moose.

heggs > A lone hiker scopes out Worthington Glacier, one of the few "drive up" glaciers. Summertime hiking is great here, especially on a nice day like this.

heggs > On the way to Katmai National Park, beautiful views and a rare sunny and warm day.

heggs > Katmai National Park is a bear viewing paradise amidst some spectacular scenery. As we fly to our destination, two other floatplanes have already landed, no doubt already doing the same as we intend.

heggs > Can you see the bears? Observers wait as bears search for clams during low tide. Hallo Bay, Katmai National Park.

heggs > These bears are familiar with humans. But acclimitized should never lead to letting your guard down. The bears will tolerate human presence to a certain degree, some more than others. Our guide had 26 years of experience with them and our little tour group did exactly as she instructed. It was one awesome experience.

heggs > During low tide bears search for clam by pushing down on the sand, which when water squirts up, is a telltale sign of buried treat. They then dig down for the reward. The Ravens scarf up the leftovers.
